JOSIE'S POEMS

Our Poetic Language -
Acrostic Poetry

By Josie Whitehead

An acrostic poem is a poem where certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. Typically, the first letters of each line are used to spell the message, but they can appear anywhere.

Brownies

B     BROWNIES are willing to lend you a hand.

R     READY and able when there's a demand.

O     OFFERING their help so you don't need to shout.

W    WILLING's the word when a Brownie's about.

N     NOTHING deters them - just give them a task.

I      IF they can help you, you need only ask.

E    EAGER and able?  Yes that's what we're told.

S    SPECIAL brownies, like me - well we never get old!

                                       (Oh yes we do).
