CAN YOU HEAR THE RAIN FALLING?

By Josie Whitehead

Can You Hear the Rain Falling?

Can you hear the rain falling

     Or smell that perfumed rose?

Thank God for ears to listen with;

     Thank God to have a nose.

Can you see the golden sun

    Which rises every dawn?

In autumn do you watch red leaves

    Drift down to clothe the lawn?

Can you see your mother’s smile

     Or feel your father’s kiss?

Without our senses try to think

     Of all the things we’d miss.

We'd never hear good music played

     Or feel a gentle touch:

Without our senses -  yes all five -

     We’d miss out on so much.
