A HAPPY NEW YEAR?

By  Josie Whitehead

I’ve slept rather late and then missed the bus.

I’m now late for work and it caused a big fuss.

I mislaid my pencil and then lost my pen –

     But . . . . .  "A happy new year dear ???" –

                                         Oh please tell me when.

The weather has changed and it’s now freezing cold

And snow will be here – well that’s what we’re told.

I’ve spent all my money but tomorrow we’re paid,

But with all that is happening I’m feeling dismayed.

But, I’ve met a young man who has just asked me out.

He’s a really nice chap - though a little bit stout.

A happy new year?  Well I hope it will be

A better new year, but I'll just wait and see.
