I'VE MADE IT!

By Josie Whitehead

I've Made It

I was one out of thirteen that survived it this year,

But tonight I have made it, so send up a cheer.

For weeks upon weeks I have trotted around

Accompanied by mother, both feet on the ground.

I grew adult plumage.  I’m smart, I admit.

I’ve strengthened my wings and shown off quite a bit.

Tonight, though, was special as I flew over town

And with Mum and with Dad on the river came down.

What a day of excitement!  I surely won’t sleep

For in the life of a duck it’s one very big leap!
