SQUAWKING FOR MORE

By Josie Whitehead

Squawking for More

Some very greedy little chicks

     Are sitting in their nest:

What tasty things will Mummy bring?

Which things will taste the best?

Can Dad help fill those empty tums?

What do those small chicks eat?

They’re waiting day and waiting night

     To have their special treat.

The robins love a tasty worm,

But all chicks find worms yummy,

And any insect’s good to eat

And soon goes in a tummy.

Who gets the worm?  It all depends

Who wins the tug of war:

But even half a worm tastes good

     Before you squawk for more.
