for Children

THE TINY CREATURES

Grasshoppers and dragonflies;
Slimy slugs and snails.
Scorpions cause harm or death
From stings within their tails.

Mosquitoes kill - some spiders too.
Most insects only hurt.
Some insects fly across the sky
Whilst some crawl through the dirt.
​
Beetles, worms and honey bees,
Our Planet Earth they share,
So by treating them with due respect
You will surely show you care.

EXERCISE FOR YOU ALL: Can you name all the minibeasts in the above pictures. Do you know a little bit about each of them? Do you remember which crawl on the earth, which fly, which can climb up walls, make webs - and above all, which are dangerous to humans. Most of them only bite you/sting if you interfere with them first of all. Josie
