(An adverb Poem written in anapaestic metre)

By Josie Whitehead

Eagerly - an adverb poem

Jack is eagerly watching the postman draw near.
He is eagerly listening and what does he hear?
A small parcel is quietly dropped in the hall.
Oh, but eagerly opening's the best thing of all!

He's now eagerly pulling the contents from box:

It is just what he wanted - some great football socks.
They'll be warm on the legs and with famous brand name,
It's for certain they’ll help win that next football game.
