GOD, DO I MISS YOU

IN MY BUSY LIFE?

By Josie Whitehead

God, Do I Miss You in My Busy Life

Do I miss you God, each morning,
As I hurry down the street -
Or is it you who smiles at me,
    Through faces that I meet?

Is it you who quietly speaks to me
    Through people in our town
Or is your quiet voice just lost –
    In traffic noise it’s drowned?

God, did I miss you then, this morning
When I had no time to stop?
Did you see me racing madly
As I went from shop to shop?

It’s probable I missed your birds
    Who rejoice in their creation
For I had no time to hear them sing
As I hurried to the station.

When I meet someone who’s new to me
    Of another faith or creed
I’ll remember that you never turned
Your back on those in need.

When someone wants to speak to me,
    But I’ve hardly any time,
I’ll tell myself that time, dear God,
    Is yours and never mine.

So please dear God accompany me
As I start a brand new week.
I mustn’t doubt that you are seen
    By everyone I meet.

If I give a smile and kindly word,
    It’s you they’ll really see.
So help me God to always let
    Your light reflect through me.

Do try to find time in your busy life to put God first and remember what Jesus told us:  'Love your neighbour as yourself.'  In other words, care about the people you meet in the way that you'd like them to care and respect you too.   Josie
