HALFWAY

By Josie Whitehead

Halfway

I’m halfway through my dinner now

So there’s half that’s left to eat

And halfway means ? – I’m NOT quite sure.

     Am I ‘halfway to complete?’

I’m halfway through my homework too

So there’s half that I must do.

I’m halfway through my growing up

    And perhaps you’re halfway too.

I’m halfway up the stairs to bed,

Or perhaps I’m halfway down -

And the place where I must go to school

     Is halfway into town.

I’m equidistance between two –

I’m neither here or there –

But when I come to think of it,

      Well, do I really care?
