JOSIE'S POEMS
Senses Poems for Children
By Josie Whitehead

HOW DO CHILDREN TASTE?
By Josie Whitehead
How Do Children Taste?
The monster said:

"How I wish I could sing
Like a bird in a tree.
How I wish that I smelt
Like a rose or sweet pea.

"How I wish that I looked
Like a famous film star.
How I wish that I tasted
Like a sweet chocolate bar.

"How I wish that I felt –
Well how could a child feel?
Well pinch one and feel one,
But expect a loud squeal!
"You can hear their loud shouting
Which can deafen the ear,
But I think they taste uggh, yucky,
So you’ve nothing to fear."
