A LADYBIRD
By Josie Whitehead
Ladybird (A)
A ladybird sits on a flower,
Enjoying Sunday lunch.
'What's so very tasty then
To crunch, crunch, crunch?

'What have you discovered
To munch on in July?'
'While you like beef for dinner,
I much prefer greenfly.

'I’m stocking up on foodstuffs
Before the winter comes.
There are lots of tasty insects
Which are going in my tum.

'Now I’m off to find a rose bush
For this meal is at its end.
I eat things that kill your plants
So I'm the gardener’s friend.'
