THE PASSPORT PHOTO

By Josie Whitehead

Passport Photo (The)

There’s a witch inside our photo booth
Who’s as mean as mean can be,
For when I saw my photograph,
       I knew it wasn’t me.

The woman in the picture
     Was a monster, vampire, worse!
The witch inside that photo booth
Had put on me a curse.

This ugly person had blue hair
     And wrinkles on her face,
And, instead of my own lovely smile,
Well what was in its place?

A scowling ugly face looked back,
     With evil looking eyes,
So when I saw this photograph,
      Imagine my surprise!

My husband said: 'That's not you dear!
      Well ask just anyone,'
And I heard the sound of laughter,
For the witch thought it was fun.

I called the manager across
And said: 'Look here my man!
Your photo booth is telling lies!
      Do something if you can.'

'The time has surely come to rid
Your store of such as she!'

But with a shrug, he laughed and said:
'Well, it looks like you to me.'
