THE PRETTIEST INSECT

Sweet butterfly, kissing the flowers of spring,

With a miniscule body transported by wings.

You flutter through May with no scuttle or scurry!

So unlike we humans, our lives filled with hurry.

Sweet butterfly, sent to both charm and delight.

You’re a sun-loving creature, no friend of the night.

Goodbye crawly caterpillar - a hurried adieu.

Now the prettiest insect must surely be you.
