THE SEVEN ROSY APPLES

By Josie Whitehead

Seven Rosy Apples (The)

ON MONDAY

There were seven rosy apples

     Sitting on a tree:

One fell off and Blackbird said:

'This one is meant for me.'

ON TUESDAY

There were six rosy apples

     Sitting on a tree:

A magpie came and stabbed at it:

'This one is meant for me.'

ON WEDNESDAY

There were five rosy apples

     Sitting on a tree:

A little girl came to the tree:

'This one is meant for me.'

ON THURSDAY

 There were four rosy apples

     Sitting on a tree:

A little boy came to the tree:

'This one is meant for me.'

ON FRIDAY

There were three rosy apples

     Sitting on a tree:

The apples said:  'Well, who wants us?'

And a woman picked all three.
