SILKWORM, SILKWORM
SPIN A FINE THREAD

By Josie Whitehead

Silkworm, Silkworm

Silkworm, silkworm, spin a fine thread

To make a silk coverlet for my little bed.

Silk for pyjamas - silk dressing gown too.

Work little silkworm, there’s plenty to do.

Silkworm, silkworm, tuck into your leaf.

Your silk makes strong fibre beyond our belief.

Your hard working body spins a cocoon

Of shimmering filaments that glow like the moon.

Silkworm, silkworm, work through the night.

Spin luxurious silk that’s as sheer as the light.

Spin silk that is strong with a satin-like touch.

Oh thank you small silkworm, thank you so much.
