SUMMER'S KNOCKING
ON YOUR DOOR

By Josie Whitehead

Summer's Knocking on Your Door

Knock, knock!  ‘Who’s there?’  ‘It’s only me.
Look through your window.  Can’t you see
The fresh green leaves, the roses red
And blooms in every flower bed?’

Knock, knock!  ‘Who’s there?’ ‘It’s me again –
I’ve brought some lovely summer rain.
Your grass is green, the air is cool
And you’ve water in your garden pool.’

Knock, knock!  ‘Who’s there?’  I think you know,
I’ve brought a summer’s breeze to blow.
Oh come outside, it’s time to play
     Upon this lovely summer‘s day.’

Knock, knock!  Knock, knock – no answer came
And even when she called his name.
He’s in the park and having fun
     Enjoying playing in the sun.
