TIRED OLD TOMCAT

By Josie Whitehead

Tired Old Tomcat

A tired old tomcat in the sun,

Dreams of his days of having fun,

When, as quick as lightning he could leap,

     Instead of spending hours asleep.

This sleepy tomcat dreams of fish

And tasty morsels in his dish,

And, with these thoughts, he gently purrs,

Then feels something and quickly stirs.

He flicks a fly from off his nose,

And back to sleep again he goes.

With head to tail and body curled

He’s happy in his feline world.
