JOSIE'S POEMS

W A I T I N G

By Josie Whitehead

I’m waiting for Christmas, for Easter, for more:

My birthday, my holidays! Oh, waiting’s a bore.

      The time goes so slowly - it never goes fast -

       But the waiting soon ends: ' Oh goodness, at last!'

My doggie is waiting.  He hopes that we know.

It’s time for his walkies: ‘Come on now, let’s go!’

    Now it’s my turn to wait for the sun to arrive;

    Then come with me please for a really nice drive -

To a beautiful place where we’ll go for a walk,

And then we’ll have time to stop and we’ll talk.

      Oh, waiting’s a bore for both you and for me - - -

      But patience is important, I think you’ll agree.

*When we have patience for God's promises, we find that 'good things come to those who wait,' just like the Bible teaches.  We all like to get good things but don't like waiting.  Sometimes bad things happen to us and it is terribly hard waiting for good to help us through these awful times.  Let's think of the good things that we've waited for and how happy we felt when they came.  What have you done to help others by doing something good to help them through difficult times?  Discuss these things in your groups now. . . .
