WHAT YOU
GIVE OUT TO OTHERS

By Josie Whitehead

What You Give Out to Others

When there’s love and a smile on somebody’s face
And there’s joy from the warmth of a loving embrace,
These feelings delight you for so many days
For they fill up your heart and then set it ablaze.

Love is infectious - it will flourish and grow -
But hatred’s the same as everyone knows.
You feel really good when you know you’re adored

But are sad and distressed when you’re simply ignored.

Is it worth causing tears or emotional pain?
When you’re mean and show hate, what is it you gain?
Inner happiness comes when your conscience is clear,
Not hurting the people who’ve loved you most dear.

With love, it’s so strange, for the more you give out
The more you get back of this there’s no doubt.
There’s one thing for certain in the world of attack:
What you give out to others will surely come back.

Karma:

Karma is a spiritual belief that is all about cause and effect. The thinking is that if you put good into the world, good comes back to you. If you choose to do harm then bad things come back to you later. We should remember:  'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'. This is what Jesus said.  So, be kind!  However, saying it is sometimes easier than doing it. Sometimes we need a daily reminder to start the day in a generous frame of mind.  Then read this poem and perhaps, on this subject, you  write the next poem.  Josie
