JOSIE'S POEMS
Animal Poems

WITH HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
By Josie Whitehead
I am eighteen foot tall from my toes to my head.
I’m the one who sleeps least so I don’t need a bed.
They call me a bull and my wife’s called a cow.
Does this give you a clue as to who I am, now?

You will find me in Africa or perhaps in a zoo.
With my head in the clouds, I get a good view.
I prefer the hot weather, eat leaves on the trees
And with such a long neck, I can reach them with ease.

I think that by now you will surely have guessed
That I am a giraffe who is beautifully dressed.
In my suit of brown markings, with pattern unique,
I’m both tall and I’m proud of my handsome physique.
