JOSIE'S POEMS
Animal Poems
By Josie Whitehead
C O W S
By Josie Whitehead
They wander through the lush green grass
With little care for creed or class.
They stretch their necks at stupid man
Obsessed with fame and warring plans.
They stare at field and then at sky
And, after steady gazing, sigh,
For what they see must make them think:
'Mankind just wants our milk to drink.'

Talking point: Do human beings mainly care for animals in return for something they have to offer? Even cats and dogs? What about wild animals? We make money from filming them - but there are many animals that are on the brink of existence because humans have killed them for something they want from them, ie the white rhino, but many others. What can we do about this? Is a zoo the right place to keep wild animals? There are lots of things that can be discussed following this poem. Josie
