(Plastic?  No Thanks)

By Josie Whitehead

Plastic?  No thank you.  I’m loving our Earth.

Plastic?  No thank you.  I’ve lived here since birth.

Plastic?  No thank you.  So let’s seek a solution

But . . .  everyday habits can end its pollution.

Plastic causes pain to Earth’s beautiful home.

Plastic can kill the wild creatures that roam

     In our seas, in our skies and the oceans beneath;

Those in our woodlands and those on the heath.

It creeps into homes from things bought in shops.

It’s used to wrap clothing, our groceries and crops.

It’s used to make drain-pipes, your toys and your chair

And when no longer needed it’s scrapped - - is that fair?

The billions and billions of plastic we waste

Choke up oceans, our rivers and beautiful lakes.

It is killing our animals, our birds and our fish.

Well I’m feeling quite sure that it’s not what you wish!

So think before buying the plastic you see,

For God’s world was a present to you and to me.

Please show Planet Earth your true love and respect

And, goods made of plastic?  Oh, you’ll surely reject!
