ONE MILLION FEET

By Josie Whitehead

One Million Feet

One million feet are pattering
    Upon my window pane.
One million drops are chattering:
'Look out!  Here comes the rain!'

One million feet come clattering
On dark streets, cold and bare.
One million drops are splattering
      On you, me and everywhere.

One million feet are scattering
     One million drops of rain.
One million raindrops offering
      Life to the world again.
