It’s there when I turn on the tap
And when I flush the loo.
I need it when I take a shower
Or give a drink to you.

I use it when I clean my teeth
Or when I wash my hair.
The clouds above send it to us.
    It travels through the air.

You’ll find it at the swimming pool
     And also in the sea.
All living things depend on it
And not just you or me.

We use it when we make the tea
    And for iced-lollies too,

And use it when we wash our clothes -
Yes, lots of it, it’s true.

I sometimes grumble at the rain
      And you do I expect,
But water’s such a precious gift
     Which we really should respect.
