Stones - Heading .jpg

S  T  O  N  E  S

By Josie Whitehead

Stones

Stones can be trampled underfoot;
Stones can be kicked and not stay put.
    Stones can be brown and stones can be white;
    Stones can be hidden well out of sight.

Stones can be used upon someone’s grave;
Stones can come tumbling upon a wave;
    Stones can be massive or stones can be small;
    Stones can be proud and can stand very tall.

Stones can be found as a gem in a ring;
Stones can be deadly when used with a sling.
    Stones can be varied, as I’m sure you’ll agree,
    And a stone from your fruit can grow into a tree.
