Two mosquitoes sat by a pool in the sun.

      Tasty blood was their subject, of course.

One said: ‘On the whole, I prefer human blood

     To the blood of a cow or a horse.’

 

The other replied: ‘Human beings are mean

     And they seem most reluctant to share.

Just think how much blood every one of them has.

     Don’t you think this seems rather unfair?'

 

His friend then replied: ‘Young blood is the best,

      For we all know it’s sweet to the taste,

But one horrid boy swatted poor Aunty Bess

     Whilst I hurried off in great haste.

 

‘Ah, yes, that’s the problem,’ the other one said.

      ‘There are too many eyes and all that.

The other main problem, well that’s what I find,

      Is that some people wear a big hat.’

 

‘Just hide on the brim,’ quickly came the reply.

      'Take things slowly and try not to rush!' 

'But my poor brother, Mozzy, once tried doing that,

      And he died in a bit of a crush.’

 

Two swimmers arrived and all eyes went to them.

      ‘Well, we each have our lunch for today!’

But the swimmers had sprayed with repellent and so,

     The mosquitoes soon went on their way.
