WHEN MUMMY WANTED
TEA IN BED

By Josie Whitehead

When Mummy Wanted Tea in Bed

When Mummy wanted tea in bed

     She shouted for the maid

But the maid had not come in that day

     Because she’d not been paid.

So Mummy, washed and quickly dressed

     And hurried to the bank,

But the car was low on petrol so

She had to fill the tank.

Mum then called at the Post Office,

      Bought stamps and envelope,

And quickly hurried off back home

     With confidence and hope.

She posted wages to her maid

And begged: ‘Come back to me,

For I need you more than anyone

     To make my morning tea.'

Oh, do you think that she returned to work or did Mummy have to learn how to make her own tea?  Josie
