Crocodile

THE ADVENTURE

OF SAMUEL SPENCER SMILE

By Josie Whitehead

Adventure of Samuel Spencer Smile (The)

A boy called Samuel  Spencer Smile

Met a hungry crocodile,

Who licked his lips and opened wide

      And Sammy disappeared inside.

He wriggled, sniggled, screamed and giggled;

Wiggled, jiggled - felt quite niggled.

He gave the poor croc indigestion

And, to its mind, there came this question:

'Why did I eat a boy like this?

It was quite stupid and remiss.'

SO . . . He sicked up Sammy all in one

And felt quite pleased with what he’d done.

So Sammy quickly ran to Mum

And never mentioned Crocky's tum,

But at dinnertime he had a shock

When Mum served up some nice braised croc.
