DON'T GIVE UP

By Josie Whitehead

Don't Give Up

When the end of the road seems far from sight

And the day that was sunny has turned to night;

     When your cheerful spirit is worn and frayed

     And deep inside you feel afraid,

     Don’t give up, though the going’s tough.

     Stick to your course though the road is rough.

When those whom you loved have betrayed your trust;

When your spirit has drowned and the world’s unjust;

       Life’s a bit of a brute and you’re bruised inside

       With a heart that’s aching with wounded pride.

     Don’t give up though the going’s tough.

     Stick to your course though the road is rough.

Do good for those who are worse off than you.

You’ll quickly discover there are more than a few.

     Get rid of your grief, put a smile on your face

     And then give of your best to the human race.
