Like fledgling birds you leave your nest

     To face the world beyond.

On wings of hope you take your leave; 

       And with that call respond.

 

Like fledgling birds you look ahead

     For you’re almost adult now.

Your parents know you have that urge

     And, yes, they’ll both allow.

 

Like fledgling birds you stretch your wings

     Though you’ve still more things to learn,

But, with adult human lives ahead,

      You’ve money you must earn.

 

On wings of hope you take your chance

      So go carefully as you fly.

The world’s out there to welcome you:

      Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.
